English Language Challenges

Hi dear readers, I'm so happy because this is the last blog, so what's about my experience learning English at university? well, a part of me likes that in this career the English class is obligatory, I know it's important to know other languages, it's very useful in different occasions, but I have suffered a bit with this class because I don't like the schedule in which it is given, I live far away so I arrive very late to my house.

I consider that the blog it's a very good way to practice your abilities, because you have two challenges, transmit an idea and do it in other language.
I think the aspect I'm worse at is talking, I am very forgetful, so I find it hard to express what I want to say. I hope on this summer vacations I could practice speak with someone in a real situation. Once in the street an Asian person ask me something in English and I didn't understood anything!

Lately I have been using an application called Duolingo, I practice in this platform some times a week. I tried lo learn french in this application but this didn't work, maybe because I don't know nothing of french, unlike English, with which I am more familiar.

Precisely in the last time I have needed to use my English skills, I have been searching information about posgraduate abroad so I have been practicing my reading skills, I am also applying for a biennial in Scotland and I have to write an essay in English too.

Changes to my study programme

Hello to all, today's blog it's about what I will like to change in my career.
To start, I think it's a big mistake that in this university the careers related with arts are located in different places, music, dance, theater and art should be together. I think that art is a transversal knowledge between one discipline and another.

It is known by all that in this faculty there are not many resources, you can see this precariousness in the workshops and the places that you can work.
Particularly, I know the case of the textile workshop. Here there isn't many space to all the students can work during class, so, most of the students end up working at home and this is not the idea for what a workshop means according to me, the workshops are made by the collective experience.

Another thing that I think is necessary (and I realize now that I'm finishing the career) It is that we don't have any practice, neither a serious subject that prepares you for what means to go out into the real world. I must admit that now that I'm finishing the career I'm a little scared.

One thing I like of the career in this university it's that you can choose what you want lo learn (in the practical subjects) so, you aren't obligated to learn things that you aren't interest in. For example, when you tell people that you study art, the majority think that you paint and not! this is the biggest prejudice around this career.

That's all, thank you for reading me

summer holidays

Hi dear readers, today I'm going to write about the summer holidays!
Sadly, this year I haven't planned anything special, because I haven't been able to save money, but still I have thought about some small trips that do not requires too much money.

Two years ago I traveled to a place called "Altos del Lircay", it is a nature reserve located in Talca province and it is the place more beautiful a have ever seen in Chile.
To get there you have to do a trekking of six hours approximately in climb, it is very hard but it's totally worth it. When I get there, I could not believe the landscape that I have in front of my eyes, an amazing view of the Andes mountains (and so close to Santiago).
That time I could not go through the entire reservation, because we were not prepared for so many days, you requires at least one week to see all the place and we went for only four days.

There is a place in the reserve called "Enladrillado" and  it is rumored to be an alien airstrip, from there you have a 360° view, and you can see volcanoes, rivers and various valleys. It is a big esplanade of rocks, so I think if aliens want to arrive here it is the perfect place to do it.
I hope that this time I can go all over the place, I'm going to train a little bit before going because it's a hard trekking and my physical state is not the best in these moments.

So, I totally recommend you this place because it is incredibly beautiful and it is a very cheap trip, near to the capital.

My favourite tv serie

Hi readers, today's blog is about my favourite tv serie: Adventure Time. This is an american animated tv serie created by Pendleton Ward for Cartoon Network.
The show follows the adventures of a boy named Finn and his best friend Jake, a magic dog. The first time that I see it was like five or six years ago on tv, inmediatly I loved the show, the graphic work it is really awesome.
Finn and Jake live in a world called Land of Ooo, a post-apocalyptic future about a thousand years after a nuclear holocaust called the "Great Mushroom War".
Generally the stories are very funny and interesting, but someones are very deep, in a way that they try to explain some existencial things and stuffs like that.
The characters that accompany them in adventures are also very particular too. One of my favourite character it is the Ice King, in some chapters the show reveal us that he has powers because for the crown he uses, it is also the cause of his loss of sanity and his transformation into a wizard, before finding he crown he was a scientific who sought explanations on the consequences of the Great Mushroom War.
One of my favourite part of the episodes it is the ending, it is so beautiful! and the song it's really awesome too. Below you will find the video link for you to enjoy.

Postgraduate studies

Hi dear readers, today I'm going to talk about something a little similar that the last post. As I mention in that post I'm very interested in the area of restoration and conservation.
I've some experience in that because this year I took a class in the university and I liked it very much. I discovered that restore things it's something very pleasure to me. It's an activity that requires concentration and patience.
So, If I keep studying I would like to do the postgrade in the university of chile in restoration and conservation. Another option, that I would like more, it's get a specialization even more specific, like the restoration and conservation of textiles, the postgrade that I mention before have some class of this but isn't very deep in this area. I have been looking for some postgrade in this specific area but doesn't exist in chile. I found some class in Spain about that, but this doesn't seems very serious. I have to do a better search.
As I mention in my last post, I would like to finish the university first, I've been studying too much years (I studied another career before arts, when a finished the school I choose graphic design, but this is another story) so, I want to take it easy and think very well if i'm going to keep studying.

My Future Job

Hi my dear readers, today i'm going to write about the future, in specific about the job, sadly it's a preoccupation of all of us.
I hope I could be independent, have my own workshop and do wathever I want, but being a little more realistic, I'm really interested in the area of restoration and conservation.
This year I taked the complementary workshop on this area and I fall in love with it! there is something beautiful in try to preserve the objects that transmit culture and even more interesting is try to repair them.
I think this is one job I would love to have. It is an indoor job, that requires time, patience and dedication.
In my priorities there no exist ambition respect to money, I hope to find a job that I can simply enjoy.

Lately I've been thinking about in what I'm going to do the next year and do the post-grade of restoration and conservation in the University of Chile is one option, but I think it's a little expensive, and the duration it's a bit long, sincerely I'm not in love with the idea of study two more years, so this is an option that i'm analizing. First I want to finish my career, enjoy a little bit and later think in what i'm going to do.

The best technological device in my life

Hi everyone, today I'm going to write about my favourite piece of technology in my life.
If I have to choose one, I choose my mp3 player.
An mp3 player is an electronic device that can play digital audio files, is a very simple device that it's small and easy to use.
The first I had was when I was fourteen years old approximately. It was a gift from my dad.
With the arrive of mobile phones and iPods, the mp3 player died a little bit in the society, but i still prefer it. It's such more simple to use and I don't waste the battery from my cell phone.
I use it every day while I am traveling, usually in the morning way to university.
I like it because is small, lightweight and it have buttons, I like buttons more than screens. The buttons are so amazing, I miss them.

Whit out him my travels will be very boring and I would be obliged to use my cell phone. I don't like listen music with it because it is uncomfortable, you have to unlock the screen to change the songs and y don't like have something such a big on my pockets.

My favourite photograph

This photograph was taken by my dad in 1992 approximately. It shows my family, the baby it's me, the boy it's my brother, appear my mother (is the one who holds me) and my grandmother.
It was taken in vacations on my grandmother's house.

My grandmother's house is my favourite place in the world, the vacations of my childhood used to be so fun, my cousins and I used to go to the mountains near to the house and explore them, we played all the time in the nature, later we came back to the house and generally my grandmother used to cook some cake or something like that.

I would like so much go to this place again, but sadly it was sold, I remember when this happened I was so angry, I could not understand how it could be possible, so many good memories in only one place. Well, at least they are still in my mind.

I used this photograph to do a work of the university, we were working on the subject "sacred", and what was the personal definition of that concept.

A country I'd like to visit

One of the countries I'd like to visit is Japan, because they have a huge textile tradition, also their landscapes, architecture and customs are very beautiful and particular.
I'd love to visit textile fabrics, as well as coexist with artisans and learn as much as I can from them, their traditions and culture.

One of the techniques I consideer more interesting is the boro, more that a technique it's a term used to describe patched fabrics, fabrics that were sew with patches during the XIX and XX centuries. The poorest families could not afford big luxuries, so they would fix their clothes over and over again, impregnating of stories their clothes, passing it from generation to generation.

boro

I'd like to study in the Tokyio University of the Arts, obviously they have a textile departament, it must be incredible learn new things from one of the countries that have such a long long tradition in the history of textiles.

the best holidays ever

When I think in my best holidays inmediatly I remember Perú, I went three years ago in winter. It was something unexpected, a friend from my previous career (another story) invited me to go with her, and other friend, lucky me I had some money so I bought a ticket to Arica, it was the first time I traveled in plane, the rest of the travel was on bus.
I was there ten days, but was the most intense days of my life! once in Cuzco we didn't stop going to different places, we traveled in the nights and in the days we met many ruins, my favourite one was Pisac, it was a magical place, the trekking was hard, but the beauty of the landscape was unpayable. Others moments that I enjoyed a lot was the travel to Machu Picchu, all the moments to get there were magical, starting by the walk near to the train's rails until the trekking to get to Machu Picchu. I enjoyed a lot drinking beer and eating the typical food from there.
